My name is Jenifer Robinson. I am a teacher. I am from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. I am currently working as the Head of the Department of Science and French, Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir, Sultanate of Oman since 2003. I have been a trained, certified and a professional teacher since 1995. I have been in the teaching field for the past 22 years. The most describing words about me are: Creative & Collaborative, Dedicated, Passionate, Caring, Grateful, Innovative, Teamwork and Self-motivating teacher. 

I have done my M.Sc., M.Phil. in Chemistry with certified teaching degree B.Ed. in Science and English. Currently, I am pursuing Ph.D. in Chemistry on the topic – Synthesis and Biologically active compounds – Quinazolines.

Furthermore, as the HOD – Science and French, I believe to follow the three important M’s – Measuring, Monitoring, Mentoring of both teachers and students from time to time. Designing of the lesson plans, content development, PowerPoint presentations, online study material preparation, regular class work checks and home assignment planning and execution, conducting periodic class tests, result analysis, appropriate remediation steps to be applied based on the students’ needs were to be discussed with the team of teachers and implement them effectively.

I have been coordinating the National Science Olympiad, Green Olympiad, Science India Forum, Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation Pattern of Education, Chemistry and Physics Olympiads, School Based Activities like IYA Grand Challenge, Science Quest, Annual Science Exhibition and Science Investigatory Projects. I have organized in-house workshops and seminars, CBSE based examinations from classes VI to XII, conducting activities related to Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) as per the CBSE revised curriculum patterns. I have been an active member in all the school duties like Founders’ Day, Children’s and Teacher’s Day celebrations and other major school events.

My remarkable achievements as a teacher at ISWK, Oman are: 

• In June 2014, I organized and visited NASA, Houston, Texas with my 35 students of Indian School, Sultanate of Oman, who had the opportunity to learn and experience various   activities related to NASA with authenticated certification. We also visited Niagara, Washington DC and New York which provided thrilling experiences and were also awarded with the certificate for successful completion of Space School at     Johnson Space Centre, NASA.
• Serving as the Chief Editor of ISWK Science E- Magazine “COSMOS” yearly publication since 2012 and ‘H’ for Health – E magazine since 2019.
• Organizing Inter – School IYA Grand Challenge Astronomy Quiz since 2010, ISWK Science Festival since 2011, ISWK Science India Fiesta coordinator for the past 10 years, Served as the Resource Person for an Interactive Programme on Implementation of CCE, as the Center Superintendent for CBSE Examination in 2013 and in 2020. 
• School Coordinator for organizing the pilot programme “Tod, Phod, Jod”, Muscat Recycle Campaign, Mobile Robotics, Science Olympiad Foundation, Australian Chemistry Quiz & IBT – ACER Examinations yearly, Environmental Quiz, WCAS Biotech Fest & CBSE Science Exhibition.
• I was also awarded as the Best Coordinator in 2016 by the Science India Fiesta, awarded the Certificate of Appreciation from Human Resource Development, Government of India   for the stellar performance by the students in AISSCE (All India Senior School Certificate Examination) in 2014 and 2015, awarded the Certificate of Participation in the Academic Symposium – Middle School organized by the Board of Directors, Indian Schools, Oman.
• I also received the Merit certificate for the academic year 2019 -2020 for the Excellent Results in CBSE Board Examination 2020 for both Class 10 & 12 Science & French and also for getting 12 centum.

Various innovative Science events for students were conducted by me  during this pandemic situation  (2020 – 21) through  online platform on the title ‘Science Talent Hunt’ including Science crosswords, debates, seminars, Science spelling bee, Talenscia, Introduction to Health magazine, Innovative Science Experiments, Solar Ambassador, etc. to benefit the students’ community, In French,  events such as French Fiesta, French Quiz, French Talent Hunt were organized to encourage students for learning Foreign Languages. 

Apart from teaching, I have been passionate towards being Online Chemistry tutor, establishing my own YouTube Channel in Chemistry teaching, reviewing Science books from classes 1 to 5, authoring various books like Practical Engineering chemistry for B.E. and B.Tech. students, the role of AutoCAD in Drug Designing and Development and Materials – Synthesis & Characterisation in October 2021. I am very happy to publish my first journal in December 2021 titled COVID-19: Etiology, Transmission, Epidemiology, Treatment and Clinical trials; Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International; DOI: 10.9734/JPRI/2021/v33i60B34669.

As I am really excited, the Women Icon Awards, which celebrate the achievement of the women globally, “Innovative Teacher of the Year” is a great honor and recognition to me and I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Women Icon Powered by Times Women and World Women Council for selecting me for this prestigious award under the category of the Best Women Achiever. I would like to thank the Almighty and my family for providing constant support and encouragement to make my dreams come true always.
