Overview

Greetings from the sunny side of Maldives! My name is Eman, and I am a life Coach! My life coaching niche is “psychosocial wellbeing” and I have been working in the field of mental health for many years. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Women Icon Powered by Times Women and World Women Council (WWC) for acknowledging my work. I am deeply honored and humbled to achieve such an award. It was honestly a surprise as I didn't really expect to achieve such recognition, but alas, I did it! Alhamdulillah!

I have always been passionate about helping people and seeing even the slightest smile on their faces warms my heart! I see myself as a positive person with passion towards empowering people to improve their wellbeing. This is the reason why I love working with people, learning and growing together with a “growth-mindset”. My life philosophy is that “I carve my own destiny”. What I mean is, I believe that I have the power to choose my own path in life and carve it along regardless of all ups and downs that may come. I may not be able to control what happens to me, but I can always control how I react to it. Thus, the true beauty of life is contentment! Today I would like to share my story with you.

Growing up, as a child, teen and young adult, I have experienced pain in many ways that taught me so many lessons of life. What mainly kept me going was my faith in God, giving me the hope to never give up. In the very end, my sorrow became my strength and ultimately my real power. It has helped me to understand people on a deeper level and provide guidance. My dreams came into a reality when I got my first scholarship to pursue “Social Work” and be among the first group of individuals to start Social Work in Maldives. It was an amazing experience that I truly honor. Working in the Ministry of Gender and family as a social worker, it opened my eyes and enhanced my knowledge and skills. Later, I aimed to reach high by completing my major in Psychology and continued working in the ministry applying my new skills into practice.

When I got married and had my first child, my priorities changed, and I decided to focus and dedicate my life to the best gift in the whole world, my child. So I took a break from work and became a stay-at-home-mum. It was the best decision of my life. It gave me time to be with my child as well as work on my other dreams that fit my curious and ambitious soul. I did some short-term courses like aromatherapy, sewing and dress design, and took on some part time work occasionally such as research.

Then, I got this amazing opportunity from a friend who opened a new organization, “Women Center”, (currently known as Institute for Wellness Education). I worked there as their Mental Health Coordinator. I was able to work in flexible hours balancing my personal / work life and apply my skills to the fullest. During my time working there, I met many inspiring and successful people who taught me the role of “entrepreneurship” and “self-promotion” if you want to succeed. So, I thought to myself, if they can, perhaps I can too, so maybe I should give it a try.

I always dreamt of doing something of my own where I can apply all my skills into one. So, I decided to start my own work page where I can provide life coaching, and use my creative skills like art, poetry, writing, public speaking, and training as tools for healing and growing. That’s how today “Drymscape '' came into existence in the 17th of July 2018. The word “Drymscape '' implies an escape into my dreams! The biggest accomplishment so far in my journey through Drymscape is starting the very first “Value-education program via Prophet Stories' ' in Maldives (a six-month intense program for children of ages 9 to 17 years). The purpose of this program is to take them on a spiritual yet dramatic journey through “Stories of the Prophets'' from Islamic history. Storytelling has a magical effect even on us as adults, which is why I wanted to apply this tool in teaching. So far, I have got a lot of positive feedback from both students as well as parents and many highlighted the importance of having “value education”, especially in a society where good behavior and values seem to drop even as they excel in studies. Which is why this program was created, and so far, it has been a success! Alhamdulillah!

However, when the COVID19 hit, we had to put a pause to our program but now we have started again as schools have reopened with the new-normal. During the pandemic, I volunteered actively at the Maldivian Red Crescent of Maldives (MRC) to provide psychosocial support (psychological first aid) to people who were suffering. We worked in the National Emergency Operations Center of Maldives (NEOC) that led all the health professionals to cater for the pandemic. The first Mental Health Hotline “1425” was launched by MRC during this time. It was also the first time I dedicated my volunteer services, and it was truly the best feeling ever! I shared my expertise with my fellow volunteers in areas of relaxation, meditation, self-care and parenting, to guide people to cope through this hard time. I also provided breathing exercise sessions occasionally for the other frontlines and nurses working in hospitals as well as those working in NEOC. I created a fun engaging game to teach my son and other children to increase awareness about COVID19. I also published an article to enhance awareness about mental wellbeing: “A glimpse into Mental Wellbeing Today with COVID19”. I even got the chance to share tips from this article in the national radio of Maldives. It truly is a blessing to be of help to people during this crucial time.

Finally, I want to say that I am really excited and looking forward to the big event festival, to meet new people and network! Along with this biography, I have attached some pictures of my work and my article to provide a detailed grasp of the work I do. For more details about the services provided at Drymscape, please refer to my work portfolio on the next page. Once again, thank you for this beautiful opportunity, much love!
