I’m Mrs.Shanika Nishadini Silva from Negombo Sri-Lanka & was educated at Mary Immaculate Convent in Thudella. Starting from my school life, I was a dedicated, challenging & sociable person. These character traits became a great blessing in my journey. After completing my G.C.E.O/L in 2003, I started completing a diploma in computer (BTEC.HND). With the completion of my G.C.C.A/L, I started my career at Standard Chartered Bank as a Personal Loan Executive. Meanwhile completed a diploma in Human Resource Management at American College of Higher Education & obtained an opportunity to serve the Startel (pvt) ltd as a Human Resource Executive. But building up my own business was my determined goal.

Besides, trying new foods with my own recipes is an added talent that I involve myself in. The experience gained from working in companies was priceless. With the experience of customer handling, product marketing, management of customer relationship...etc., & the desire of trying new foods, I made an effort to start my own business. Therefore, after a few days of planning on 17th March 2021 “Cookie Delight” was established as an individual registered business. 

“Dream big, work hard & make it happen” is my vision which kept me rising in my own business as well as in my life. I always considered producing a product which does not contain any artificial sweeteners or preservatives so that all young & old could consume. Starting a new own business during a critical world pandemic situation along with composed travel restrictions was so challenging. Considering all the traveling issues, delivery issues & safety precautions, a decision was made for directing the business towards online. The business account of “Cookie Delight” was launched. Starting with one product which was only cookies, with the journey of 10 months, more than 30 products are produced and distributed island-wide. Within these 10 months, with the completion of 4000+ followers of the “Cookie Delight” business account, the first international order was distributed to Australia in January 2022 marking a very important milestone in my business.

With the rapid growth of our business, part of the business profit is set aside for charitable activities. Providing study packs for the necessary children who are eager to learn, helping old age homes/orphanages are some of the charitable activities done by us.

As a lady, I am so proud of the journey I have taken so far, overcoming obstacles. Self-motivation, self-confidence & hard work will always lead you to your destiny.

As a woman entrepreneur, I am blessed & glad to receive the “Best women achiever” award under the category of women achiever. I would like to express my gratitude to the team members of “woman icon powered by Times women” for shortlisting me as an awardee. This is another unforgettable milestone in my life which I have achieved. Also an encouraging family is a blessing for me in all highs & lows.

Becoming one of the best lady entrepreneurs in Sri-Lanka is my aspiration.
