For Dr. Salini Devi Rajendran, education is the key to empowerment which no one can take away. Salini is the eldest daughter in the family, who has come a long way from a small town in Tapah, Perak, Malaysia to being an academic and researcher in the country’s top 1 private university. She is currently a Senior Lecturer I at the School of Food Studies and Gastronomy, Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, Taylor’s University, Kuala Lumpur. With a PhD, a Master of Science, a Bachelor of Science from the Universiti of Putra Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), and a Diploma from the Polytechnic Sultan Azlan Shah (Tanjung Malim, Perak). Salini has dedicated her life to studies and strives for success.  She has set no limit for her education journey as she believes only education can bring changes to her family and life who have been growing up with lots of struggles and financial difficulties. 

In her current role as the Senior Lecturer I at the School of Food Studies and Gastronomy, Dr. Salini teaches strategies and skills to conduct research activity, as well as writing academic/dissertation research papers. She also takes the lead as main supervisor and co-supervisor to supervise postgraduate candidates' research activities. With her extensive experience in teaching, research supervision, publications, and innovations, Dr. Salini has been appointed as a Module Leader for a Research Project in her school. 

In her previous role, she was the Head of Department at one of the renowned top private universities in Malaysia. Dr. Salini was also awarded as a professional technologist by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (Ts) and a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT). Her other affiliations include as a reviewer for a journal and serving as both internal and external examiner for postgraduate examination. She also serves as a volunteer to contribute to the education and empowerment of the Indian community through the Malaysian Indian Educational Development Association (TheMIND). 

With a gentle and soft, smart, and loving yet firm approach, Dr. Salini continuously inspires her students to pursue excellence in their education. She also always ensures to integrate the importance of equity and equality into her teaching. Her generous spirit, dedication, enthusiasm, and endless commitment are key to her success as a successful academician in the education industry. 

Finally, Dr. Salini is so grateful and truly honored to receive the “Women's Education Leadership Awards” from International Women Icon.
