Overview

My story began in the year 2020, when the whole world was shutting down. MentCouch opened its first and only centre in the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur in March 2020.  The name of the centre was inspired from Sigmund Freud’s famous psychoanalytic couch. It is the prime symbol of psychoanalysis, and I was lucky enough to see it in person, in his final home situated in Hampstead, London (now the Freud Museum). The idea behind opening the centre was simple, I have been lived, studied and worked in the beautiful city and call it home. It was my utmost pleasure to give back to the local community. However, MentCouch’s services were made accessible to global clients since day 1. MentCouch started its online journey by providing free services to clients from my own motherland, Bangladesh to India and continued to serve in various parts of Asia during the Covid pandemic hiatus.

Tanjina Ashraf Khan Mou is an award winning, certified mental health professional, writer, entrepreneur and CEO of one of the leading private psychology centers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. MentCouch Psychology Centre stands tall with the vision and mission of spreading awareness and advocating mental health in the community not only in Malaysia but globally. MentCouch strongly advocates the fact that prioritizing mental health should be a lifestyle.

From Bangladesh for the first time a Mental Health Professional, Tanjina Ashraf Khan Mou had been conferred with the prestigious award of “The Global Healthcare Champions” endorsed by World Federation of Healthcare Leaders. The Global Healthcare Champions award glorifies the accomplishments made by those who work selflessly with the motive of providing happiness in our lives and making a difference to the society. Tanjina Ashraf Khan Mou has been the driving force behind her successful enterprise 'MentCouch'. Her contribution has been recognized in the sector and she has been honoured as a “Mental Healthcare Achiever in Covid Time” for raising the bar with her dynamic spirit and innovative outlook. She developed intensive, ambitious business strategies and continuously made various mental health services accessible to local and global community in order to help during such unprecedented times. World has come to know and see other side of Bangladesh in terms of its presence in the field of Mental Health through her work. Tanjina has also been featured in prestigious platforms like FORBES, COSMOPOLITAN, The New Indian Express etc where she talked about financial independence of women, self love and mental health.

As a mental health professional, Tanjina believes in using both a Person Centred approach and an integrative psychological approach to therapy. As an integrative therapist, she possesses a solid foundation in a wide variety of theoretical approaches and over time has developed her own way of working as a result. In particular she draws from psychodynamic, humanistic, relational, and psychotherapies, as well as from new researches in positive psychology and neuroplasticity. MentCouch places high importance on employee mental health and has introduced “Mental Health Leave” system within the company. The company is unique and one of its kind because it places focus not only on Mental Health related disorders but also on wellbeing aspects like mindfulness, yoga, meditation, behavioral training, life- satisfaction, employee wellness etc. It is one of the very few centres in the world that introduced a free-of-cost E-Magazine that focuses on mental health and wellness topics in order to raise awareness and eliminate stigma related to mental health. As mentioned, MentCouch’s services are not only meant for people with concerns, it is for everyone!

It is an utmost honor to be receiving this recognition, Thank you Women Icon Powered by Times Women and World Women Council.
