Overview
I am Nilu Anandappa and I am proudly representing the pearl of the Indian Ocean Sri Lanka, a well known country for its Bio Diverse culture and its extremely rich History. I am 32 years of age and I come from a small family of three. Dad, mom and myself. Being an only child is not an easy task when it comes across likes and dislikes. I had a lovely childhood mostly spent in church. I am a wife of a Banker and a mom of two boys aged 10 and 9. I introduce myself proudly as a lady who keeps her head, heels and standards high.
I studied at Ave Maria Convent, a leading catholic girls school in Negombo. I have been a forward student since my childhood. Loved and participated in all the extra curricular activities specially music. I have been a music lover since the age 6.
Actually the story began differently when I was 13 years old. Once I was walking with my friend we noticed a primary teacher was struggling to form a straight line with some naughty bunch of kids. You might be thinking what’s the big deal in it? The same as my friend, we carry different perceptions as individuals. We had a firm argument and finally she gave up and accepted that teaching primary kids is not an easy task at all. Someone might think it’s a simple job but NO the real fact the complexity is noticed once you start experiencing it. It’s not an easy task to mold a little child into the correct path with a helping hand and proper guidance. That perception made me lead my goal of becoming a qualified teacher.
After academic education I joined SGTTI, a leading Teacher training Institute, the first step to fulfill my future goal. There I followed the AMI, MMI Advanced Diploma, Level 3 IVQ Advanced Diploma in Training Skills 500/5784/4, Advance Diploma in Child phycology. I had completed the Advance Diploma in London Examinations, Graded examinations in Trinity College. Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and a Higher Diploma in Organization Behaviour. At the moment I am registered to follow a BA in special Education at IMH. I had been working for two international schools, the main objective I focused on was to encourage higher order thinking in a way that increases student performance. To build a long term career as an experienced teacher in a position that offers opportunities for career growth, and to keep up with cutting edge teaching technologies. As I think patience, Empathy, Self improvement, Adaptability, stress management and communication are my recognized skills.
At the moment I am teaching at NICE International School as a class teacher plus a subject teacher. My favourite area is Mathematics. I teach children Mathematics, English, Science, Geography and History. It’s actually my second home. mostly my personal theme of NICE Is "We are from different countries but still we smile from the same language.", it’s a loving home, actually an environmentally friendly home for locals and foreign kids. Starting from preschool to A2 it shows a massive updated development yearly. Something special about NICE is it embraces a kid with warm arms full of affection, knowledge and proper guidance. Waking up and making a move to school with a happy face gives me a new lesson each day. The Uniqueness of each and every teacher has made the school a leading international school in Sri Lanka. Project based learning is an interesting area I love to work with.
Proudly would like to mention I was granted a special recognition for the highest grading level of the AMI Qualification.
I am proud to say that I have won the Global Excellence Award by Global Digital Academy, Asia’s Outstanding teacher of the year award by Rula Awards and World Research Congress, and also a proud winner of BWIO Awards and Mihimadala Awards.
I feel very blessed and grateful for being an awardee in this International forum Women Icons powered by Times Women for bagging me the award title of "Edupreneur of the year Award." I Would like to thank you for recognizing my profile in Global Platform.
I am a tomboy at heart and I love challenges. Motto in my life is to follow your heart, not the crowd, simple as working alone and standing for the right even if you are alone. In the future I wish to pursue my dream in building my own school for special needs.
I would like to end up with a little thought of Victoria Erickson "Remember that you are more than skin and bones. You are one thousand stories of before, one thousand stories of potential. One thousand stories you’ve yet to see and know, feel and breathe. There’s more to come. And it’s something beautiful" Every NO and every rejection that came to my life had made me who I am i. "LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, LISTEN TO YOURSELF"
