I am Neelam Gaash from Kashmir, known as paradise on earth.

Mental health advocate, socio-political activist, and women rights activist

I am network engineer by profession, and have also done my 2^nd post-graduation in Clinical Psychology, which makes me a psychologist as well. Also, I am a certified practitioner in CBT, Certified practitioner in Adolescent counselling and Certified practitioner in child psychology.

I am born and brought up in conflict zone, where people suffer emotionally, financially, physically every day. The reason I switched over to mental health profession is because I saw people, youth, women, children, coz of this conflict and I wanted to do something for their mental health.

I have been associated with social work since 2008. I am running a youth organization by the name of MADAWA, which means remedy. I have been helping people, especially youth, to give up smoking, drug addiction. I have been working on awareness of mental health among youth as well. I help the voiceless, marginalized and vulnerable sections of Kashmir to get their grievances redressed and get benefits of various Central government schemes, projects and programs meant for children, women, unorganized laborer and handicraft workers and the elderly.

Besides that, I am president of Jammu and Kashmir chapter, MAP (mental action by people).

Also, I am women rights activist, have been fighting for rights of women, and against dowry, dowry deaths, and female foeticide as well in Kashmir

Moreover, I have been associated with politics (BJP) since 2014. I am first Shia female to have contested assembly election in India. Also, I am first female from Kashmir to be appointed as a national member of women wing, BJP, and first female from Kashmir to be appointed as vice president of women wing, Jammu and Kashmir, women wing BJP. Moreover, I have been first female from Kashmir to be elected as constituency president (BJP), in Srinagar. Also, I have served as vice president for district Srinagar, Kashmir.

I am also awarded Fellow Membership by INSC. Also, I am member of many national and international mental Health organizations.

ACTIVITIES

1. Awareness Generation Programs in many colleges and schools of all districts of kashmir

2. Rehabilitation and Drug de-addiction of the affected youth in kashmir

3. Held Awareness generation programs for freshly married couples in different districts of Kashmir

4. Conducted legal awareness camps in rural areas of Kashmir province in collaboration with the District Legal Authorities.

5. Organized Interactive sessions with carpet weaving girls & women in different of Kashmir to learn about their problems and helping them to market their produce

6. Helped to establish SHGs in different areas of Kashmir Province.

7. Helped youth in establishing small scale industries  in making projects, securing loans, getting raw material and identifying markets.

8. Conducted rescue operations and distributed relief to the areas affected in the 2014 deluge in collaboration with the High Court rescue and Rehabilitation machinery.

9. Relief work in areas of Mir Behri among the fire-affected families.

10. Arranged martial arts training for young women in collaboration with government private organizations.
