Overview
Dr Pooja Jeyakumar is a well - known Family Physician who is passionate to achieve great heights in Healthcare Leadership. She is a hardworking, innovative, and a self - motivated individual. She has over 14 years of clinical experience, managing a broad mixture of medical and surgical conditions. Her vast experience both in India and in Oman has laid the foundation towards her journey into NHS, UK which is the world’s best healthcare system. It is an honor to be offered a challenging role in world’s famous ‘King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London. She has wide range of clinical, leadership and management skills.
After having achieved excellence in academics and in extra – curricular activities during school days, she decided to take up medicine as a career. She obtained MBBS degree with a distinction from Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences in 2007 following which she completed a couple of Diplomas both in Emergency Medicine and in Family Medicine again with distinction. It is noteworthy to mention that these two diplomas are accredited to The Royal College of General Practitioners, UK. She has done postgraduate program in Diabetology from John Hopkins University, US and is also trained in Abdominal Ultrasonography. She completed Master of Family Medicine from the University of Edinburgh, UK. She has keen interest in Healthcare Leadership and so pursued her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Services Management and with ’A’ grade.
She possesses medical practicing license of three countries namely General Medical Council, UK, Ministry of Health, Oman, and Tamil N?du Medical Council, India. When asked about her successful career, she says hard work and perfect time management as her secret. She tends to manage her time efficiently by making advance written plans, being flexible, fixing achievable goals, and drafting appropriate timetables such that she does not miss on ‘Time Management’.

Voracious training helped her to build personal resilience, confidence, and capabilities which she inculcates within the organization she works for. She now looks forward to enrolling in ‘Mary Seacole Program’ as it will pave way towards a greater positive impact wherever she renders her service. She was entrusted with managing following companies’ clinics: Ritz Carlto's Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Towell Construction Co., Fahmy Furnitures Co., Raha Mattress Co., Dolphin Construction Co., Waljat College, National Bank of Oman, Oman Shapoorji etc. She headed doctors, nurses & paramedics; trained new staff, prepared duty Rota, controlled finances, and monitored workflow.
She is enthusiastic in terms of teaching which she feels is crucial in the continuum of imparting medical knowledge. She has involved herself in a vast number of teachings to junior doctors, nurses, lab technicians, paramedics, company staff, workers, and the public. She has special interest in conducting health camps and awareness programs in the local community and has never declined any such offers. She attended a webinar provided by Continuing Professional Development called ‘Doctors Talk Show’ which discussed ‘How to increase standards of CPD Provision to Professionals’. She also completed a course on ‘Train the Clinical Teacher’ provided by Med Ambitions, UK.
She has visited several countries like Dubai, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, S. Korea, Thailand, England & Scotland. She has attended several national and international medical conferences and presented scientific papers and posters. It is noteworthy to mention that she participated in 22 nd WONCA World Conference of Family Doctors - Oct 2018, Seoul, South Korea where she represented India.
She is multi-lingual and she is well-versed in English, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam. She has working knowledge of Arabic and French.
She is a compassionate individual and so has involved herself in voluntary works during her leisure. She is a registered Volunteer in ‘The Age, United Kingdom’. She runs a motivational group called ‘Positive Vibes Only’ in social media to encourage people around globe with inspirational quotes since June 2018. She volunteered to extend full support to The Ministry of Health, Oman in dealing with Covid Pandemic crisis. She is an active Member of Oman Blood Donors since 2016. She conducted free health camp to staff of Tamilnadu Police.
Her interest in extra - curricular activities like gardening, meditation, drawing, swimming, singing, dancing, desert driving and cooking are amazing.
She was born in Chennai, South India to Dr Jeyakumar, former Joint Director of public health, Government of Tamilnadu, recipient of ‘Best Doctor’ award and Mrs. Chandrika Jeyakumar recipient of ‘Best Teacher’ award. She has imbibed her father’s perseverance and her mother’s confidence as her key qualities. She is married to Mr. Solomon Naveen Pandian, a Construction Manager based in Muscat and is also a mother of 2 kids Aarti (12y) and Aarya (11y). She manages to juggle between family and career to strike a phenomenal work – life balance.
‘Healthcare Leadership’ is one field which is still in its evolving phase and needs a lot of leaders to join hands to improve the ongoing global healthcare crisis. On being awarded ‘Women Icon Award of the year 2022’ powered by Times Women and World Women Council in recognition of her efforts and contribution towards Healthcare Leadership, she expresses her sincerest gratitude. She feels that such awards encourage young women to achieve more towards building their career. She is positive towards receiving this coveted award which she believes would in turn help her improve her services towards mankind.
