Overview

Artist N. Usha Elangovan was born in 1970 in Madurai. holding educational qualifications as an M.Sc., B.Ed., M.Music., and MFA in painting. She developed an interest in the arts during her childhood. She finished her Master's degree in painting at the Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music & Fine Arts University, Chennai, India. She is very interested in conceptual art based on the Indian symbolism of spiritual elements in contemporary style.

Her paintings convey their inner meaning through their external form. There is more ideological depiction in paintings that has conceptual, spiritual, and aesthetic values. Each painting has its own narration. The impasto technique is used in many paintings with acrylic as a medium to create more expressive textures and vibrant, warm colors, as well as in mixed media using art and craft mediums. "Rasa Series" is one of the famous painting series she made with Indian Rasa concepts.

participated in many of the international, national, and state-level shows, contests, and awards and won medals, awards, and honors. Her works were selected twice for state-level exhibitions sponsored by the Tamil Nadu government. She participated in many group shows at Lalit Kala Academy, Chola Mandal Artist Village, Dakshin Chitra Art Gallery, and many other reputed galleries all over India and sold her paintings. Being an art and craft personality, she hosted an art show on Jeya TV for ten years.

She has written many art articles in leading Tamil magazines and visited as a judge for many corporate companies' cultural events, as well as for public and government social events. She has her own studio, Geetha Kala Manchari (gkm), where she has been conducting fine art, music, culinary, and cosmetology courses for the past twenty-five years. She has given training to the past three generations and has curated shows for them regularly to create a good platform in the art field.
