I am Dr. (Mrs.) K.C.P. Gunarathne, from Sri Lanka and have been working for the government sector since 2007 as an ayurvedic medical officer and as an ayurvedic consultant surgeon since 2016. I obtained my Bachelor of Ayurveda medicine and surgery degree from the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and my Masters in surgery in Ayurveda Surgery from Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College and Hospital, Hassan, Rajiv Ghandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, India.

The topic was my research as a postgraduate student in surgery about breast disease management.

As part of my working experience, I was a demonstrator at both Ayurvedic universities in Sri Lanka. was a management trainee at Link Natural Products Pvt. Ltd. I was the medical officer in charge for four years in an Ayurveda hospital and won the productivity award for the hospital. Next, I worked in another three hospitals, and I am currently working at Gampaha Wikramarachchi Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Yakkala.

As part of my duties, I have to manage surgical patients and train Ayurveda students, intern medical officers, and postgraduate students in my subject. Further, I have followed many courses related to my profession, including Pancha Karma treatments in Ayurveda. I have presented scientific research papers and attended many national and international conferences to enhance my knowledge and skills.

With my vast knowledge, I have done a lot of social service on various platforms for more than 25 years. I have conducted many clinics, been a speaker in many programs both locally and internationally, and participated in mass media appearances too. I have written more than 40 articles about Ayurveda surgery in various newspapers and magazines, done around 20 television and radio discussions, and participated as a speaker in around 12 webinars. I am maintaining a Facebook page, "My Surgical Clinic," with case studies of successfully treated patients, media programs, and some articles published.

I am specially handling cases of chronic, non-healing wounds, breast diseases, varicose veins, fistula in ano, hemorrhoids, abscesses, cysts, gastritis, prostate problems, calculi, and cancer.

My skills include teaching, writing articles, giving speeches, doing media discussions, working as a counselor and resource person in many official and non-official programs, being a good team player, and being a successful leader, which I proved as president of a lions club in Sri Lanka.

As extracurricular activities, having special memberships in the Wound Healing society, USA, being a supporting member of the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA), being a registered master Ayurvedic specialist of the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA), being a member of the National Susrutha Association, India, and being a member of the College of Ayurvedic Surgeons, Sri Lanka, are all desirable. 

My special interest as a nature lover and nature conservator is to exchange all types of knowledge, participating in as many social works as possible with all kinds of people around the world.

I was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana Provincial Competition (2020), the Social Service Category in the Western Province, and a talented woman in the State Sector in 2021.
