Kavee Shree A/P Sukumaran has bagged Women Outstanding Trainer Award

The nature of science has always had a big impact on me, ever since I was young. This made me decide to pursue a career in cell and molecular biology. Science is something that gives a reason for who we are and how the world revolves around us. Having to find a reason for why everything happens in our lives has made me a curious person and someone who is passionate about learning new things. 

Moreover, the field of science is not the only reason I am who I am today. Dance has been my passion from an early age as well. Being a part of Sri Rathakrishanan Music and Arts Center for the past 11 years has molded me into the person I am today. This south Indian classical dance, bharathanatyam, has not only boosted my confidence but also given me the opportunity to showcase my talent and skills. I have participated in many stage productions as well as performed locally and abroad. Being a bharathanatyam dancer at Sri Rathakrishanan Music and Arts Centre has helped me to instill many good morals and enhance my skills, such as unity, discipline, kindness, leadership, time management, and many more.

I was also awarded student of the year in 2020 for my hard work and the progress that I have made. With many years of experience as well as after sitting for a series of examinations, I was promoted as a dance trainer in my dance academy. On top of that, I have also co-organized many events at the Sri Rathakrishanan Music and Arts Center alongside my peers. Being on the committee for these events has given me the experience and confidence to assess a situation and be a solution-oriented person. As a result, I have cultivated good communication skills, which have helped me deal with situations in the real world as well.

In addition, giving my time to a subject I'm passionate about is one of the simplest ways I find fulfillment in life. I have a lot of opportunity to use my talent to help people who need it through community service, in particular. This provides me with the drive to participate in volunteer work, fundraising events, and community duties.

Being a member of Pertubuhan Kesenian dan Kebudayaan SRFA has given me many opportunities to give back to the society. Recently, I participated in a program called Merdeka Day organized by this non-profit organization. I was the event manager and had many responsibilities and tasks to carry out and make sure the program ran smoothly. Being the event manager has given me a boost of confidence and allowed me to learn new skills and knowledge in event management. I have also volunteered in an animal donation drive, the Voice of the Earth Plantation Campaign, and Appreciate Our Frontliners. 

Last but not least, I would like to thank my parents, Guru Nalini Rathakris, and everybody who has made me who I am today. No matter how much I achieve in life, whether through my career or my passion for dance, I believe that my life goal is to always give back to the community. Applying for the Woman Icon Award will give me the opportunity to share what I have learned with the world and inspire many other young women. Knowing that I can pursue my passion to motivate the younger generation makes me want to strive to volunteer my time in the community in order to contribute to the creation of a better society.
