“ALWAYS PEOPLE’S CHOICE”

Who is authorised to choose the desires and objectives of women? No one, besides us, is in a position to make decisions about what to do or where to stand. I am Mariammal d/o Rajendran Murugiah, the creator of the 14^th February 2013 - incorporated company Great Choice Resources Sdn. Bhd. Selangor, Malaysia. The management team has more than 18 years of training and consulting experience. Great Choice is a Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) registered business skill training provider (soft skills and computer skills), we offer coaching and training in a variety of areas, including soft skills, IT-technical, and development, to meet the varied demands of our customers. Along with these, we additionally host team-building activities, company annual dinners, Amazing Races, theme parties, treasure hunts, and many more.

Since 2004 I have spent my first nine years of employment with a training company. I improved my expertise and learned how to satisfy consumer needs by taking several courses. While maintaining a full-time job, I began my distance study Multimedia Communication degree programme in 2006. It wasn't easy going through this path while working full-time, being a wife, and studying part-time, but I don't believe in giving up simply like that because I always feel nothing comes easily if we would like to achieve something wonderful in our lives.

I wondered, "WHY CANNOT I RUN MY OWN BUSINESS?" after a while of working with someone. My role model, Madam Mary Chen Kim Lian, has always served as my inspiration (currently the Founder of Beacon International Hospital Malaysia). Prior to that, she served as the Director of Training.com Asia Sdn. Bhd. Madam Mary was an ignorant woman who started her own business at the age of ten, which is the one inspirational trait I see in her. She became a successful entrepreneur despite facing numerous obstacles throughout her life. I suddenly wondered: What kind of individual, with no prior business experience, can start a company at a young age and eventually overcome all the obstacles to become an entrepreneur? And what is stopping me?

I always had the passion in teaching where I believe that the purpose of a teaching is not to complete tasks for you, but to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to complete them on your own. To this end, teaching should offer excellent training solutions, such as guidance on HRD fund applications and training in computer-related soft skills and team building. Many businesses, including MNCs, PLCs, GLCs, government agencies & departments, and SME firms, have benefited from the assistance of our well-trained training advisory, developers, and programmers in meeting their training needs, developing staff competencies, and creating software. And I'm really proud of GREAT CHOICE because, as my clients and consumers consistently affirm, "Great Choice Resources Sdn. Bhd. has always been People's Choice."

The most significant accomplishment in my life will be today when I accept and honour this award, not just in my own name but also in the name of Malaysia. This will serve as a powerful encouragement for me to continue on my journey, RISE, and SHINE as a diamond at all times by encouraging other women to believe in themselves and be true to who they are.

Last but not least, I want to congratulate Women Icon for introducing such a recognition award for women. This honour demonstrates to the world how successfully the women have worked hard. Being given the "WOMEN'S MOST EMERGING COMPANY OF THE YEAR AWARD" by Women Icon sponsored by Times Woman makes me feel incredibly happy and thankful.
