Kaushalya Samaraweera has bagged Outstanding Women Performer

My name is Kaushalya Samaraweera and I’m from Sri Lanka. I’m the Owner of the Sweet of K Cakes, Sweet of K Cakes Academy of Cake baking & Decorating Sri Lanka, and Sweet of K Cakes - Tools & Ingredients.

I am a trained, certified, experienced and professional cake decorator, well established since 2015. I have been into this industry for the past 9 years and well experience into my career as it is my passion and interest.

Furthermore, I worked in a completely different field at the beginning of my career. In 2010, I obtained a B.Sc. degree in Information Technology from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. I have worked as a software engineer for over 8 years in the IT industry since 2010 with five different companies.

In 2015, I resigned from my  job to have a break since I became a  mother and had to take care of my children. During this hiatus in my career, my heart turned to the home baking industry. As a hobby I focused more on baking and cake decorating during this time and it really reconnected and empowered me with my childhood artist in me.

In 2016, I joined R.L. Clement, Cake Decorating School and learn from Mr. R.L. Clement who is a professional in cake baking and decorating to learn about cake decorating.

I participated in the Malmee Cake Exhibition conducted by R.L. Clement Decorating School in 2017, and that was the most famous annual cake exhibition held in Sri Lanka.

I was fortunate enough to win the “Best in The Show” trophy in Birthday Cake Category at the exhibition in my very first attempt of my life. This achievement was the turning point in my life.

I continued my studying in cake baking and decorating at PME  masters and Wilton courses under the legend of cake articity of Sri Lanka.

There after I continued to participate in annual Malmee Exhibition as a competitor in 2018, 2020 and 2022.

I could explore my talents and knowledge in the competition where I won as below.

This was a win-win situation in my life, and I was in seventh heaven for my achievements. 

After the completion of all examinations I hold the certifications as follows.

There after I decided to impart my knowledge and skills among novices who were willing to make a career as well as for persons  who do it as passion in cake decorating and baking.

I am extremely proud of my students who have achieved the great highest in the industry with the knowledge I imparted.

My objective in life  is to impart my knowledge and skills to local and international audiences and bring the best confidence and create professionals in baking, decorating and sugar art.

Finally, I would like to say that I am extremely happy and proud to receive the recognition award as "Outstanding Female Performer" from Women Icon powered by Times Women. This award will motivate me to achieve more success and bring pride to my community as well as my country. Also, I believe I will be a role model and inspiration to all the smart upcoming entrepreneurs in the world. My determination, strength and courage have driven me to this level. So, I take this opportunity to thank the icon of women for recognizing me to receive this award for my hard work.
