Overview

I am Rasika Baskaran who is a Sri Lanka and I live in Kandy. I am an English lecturer and the  program coordinator at First Friends Campus Kandy, Assistant elocution teacher and a Private English tutor also a volunteer at Child Action Lanka .I am currently reading my Master’s in Education I have succefully completed my Bachelors in Education, Diploma in Teacher Training and Certificate in Special Needs. I started my journey as a teacher since 2010 as an assistant teacher for the LKG class at Greenhill International school Kandy and then I was employed as English, Health science, IT and Elocution teacher and was the house mistress and disciplinary in charge teacher of Netherfiled International school and then in the year 2013 I joined as the Assistant English Lecturer and was the English department coordinator at Golden College City Campus Kandy.

My life motto is to make a change in lives of people and not only people and among animals and who are in need started since my childhood. I wanted to be a humanist who encompasses wide ranging areas in helping people and reliving them from suffering while fulfilling their various basic needs and wants. I wanted to be a social worker who invariably seeks justice from the world with a view to improving living standards of communities in numerous ways therefore I joined few  non profitable organization such as Rotary,Rotaract,Interact and Child Action Lanka to do projects and to be a volunteer. I too encourage the youth to get involved in humanitarian work and I believe youth make a real changes and meaningful changes and youth could lead and make this world a better place therefore I do motivational programs and awareness session.

I was a past Interactor from interact club of Good Shepherd Convent Kandy was in the committee as the club service director and club treasurer. A Rotaractor since 2010 and I was the acting president and treasurer for the Rotaract club of Kandy Heritage and joined the Rotaract club of Kandy in the year 2014 and I was the Assistant community service director, professional development director, club service director, secretary, Vice President and current community service director (2022-23) I am also a Rotarian of the Rotary Club of Kandy Hill Capital and I am the  current Youth Advisor of the club and the Sectary elect for the year 2023-24. I have been recognized for my hard work and dedication. I was awarded the hall fame award for my commitment for the Rotaract club and for the community. I am also helping two handicapped kids in Colombo also a blood donor. A person stands for women rights and help them to succeed in life.

It’s indeed a great immense pleasure for me to receive “SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD” on a global level and also to receive the “WOMEN INSPIRATION AWARD” also I am so thrilled to hear that I reached my goal and I always believed that I could make it and make my dream comes true. I always wanted be a change maker in the community and help the needy in a possible way. Receiving an award is a great and memorable experience. Most of the time we see celebrities and other business entrepreneurs receiving grants and awards on the big stage. Also, the organization where we employed recognizes us for our hard work.

A prestigious award such as would be remarkable for women would encourage to move forward and would create a better future where they could make wonders. This accomplishment is a significant milestone in my life. I extend my gratitude for allowing me to receive this award. I believe this award would make a huge difference in my life.
