Before I introduce myself, I would like to express my gratitude for reaching out. I am amazed, your initiative has found someone like me who is doing my little or best for the betterment of my country very recently.

I am Abhigya Malla from mountainous and peaceful country Nepal which is best known for its potential of clean, green and renewable hydro electricity generation. The immense capacity of my country to generate hydro energy drove me to come back after completion of my studies. I did my high school and Bachelors in Management Studies (BMS) from India. Further, I completed my Masters in Professional Accountancy and Masters of Commerce in Finance from Macquarie University, Australia.

I am a firm believer that the potential of human resource and Nepal’s hydropower can empower the South East Asian region. It will also bring about improvement in the standard of living of the regional people and mitigate the risks associated with climate change.

Youths of my motherland have mostly migrated to other continents for better quality of life and opportunity. However, I chose the opposite because I want to give back to society and the time has never felt so right. I am honored to represent the voice of youth and women in the energy sector.

My work also involves being Director/Vice-President/Finance Controller of High Himalaya Hydro Construction Pvt. Ltd (3HC). The company has completed 35 projects in last 13 years making it a leading construction company in Nepal. 3HC delivers a range of construction services which can be tailored to different objectives of the client. It started with the vision to successfully contribute in nation building by delivering exceptional value engineering and providing one stop construction solution of infrastructure projects with a sustainable approach.

3HC’s profound expertise has built a reputation by performing the highest quality of work in hydropower sector in Nepal. The company has steadily grown into one of the Nepal’s largest and most reputable hydro and underground structure building construction company. With a view to diversify business beyond hydro, 3HC has stepped into the construction of roads, bridges, transmission line, ropeways, irrigation and waste management projects.

These positions and work haven’t been easy as it is a huge responsibility. However, I am more than happy to take this challenging situation as a privilege and work for the betterment of the stakeholders by sticking to the 3HC’s core values and strategic objectives. My responsibilities have given me the space to create employment and make impactful hydropower and other construction projects.

I am associated with lot of stakeholders of various nature of organizations: private, public and not for profit through the company. In addition, my work comprises of holistic hydropower development and construction.

I am thankful to Women Icon powered by Times Women and World Women Council (WWC) for recognizing my effort and selecting me as the winner of ‘Youth Women Leadership Award.’ I hope more women, especially the younger ones will be motivated to take up leadership position in non-traditional sector/industry. I would also like to thank all my team members and people who have helped in my journey so far.
