Overview

About Myself

I have been married to Mr. Thayabaran Munusamy for 15 years with 2 lovely kids, a girl Thareni Thayabaran who is 11 and a boy Tharun Thayabaran who is 4 years old.  I love to observe tradition and cultural activities and I love wearing sarees as my preferred attire. Cooking, baking, art and craft has always been my passion since childhood and I always get involved in these sorts of activities. Since young I have always had a passion for women empowerment, human rights and gender equality which led me to pursue my bachelor’s in law (LLB Hons) from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle thereafter I worked as a Legal & Funding Manager. I love people engagement activities thus I ventured into Human Resources and currently working as a HR Business Partner with Adecco Group in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A bit about my family, parents are the closest people that we have in our lives, whether we realize it or not. They love us not because we are smart, beautiful, successful, but just because we are their children. I too love my parents Mr. Rama Linggam Nadesen and Barigavi Balan Nair simply because they are my parents. I love who they are as people, each with their own individual traits and together forming an amazing super team that’s made me who I am today and taught me what life is all about.

I have two (2) siblings: two brothers, my brother “Moganadass Rama linggam” the eldest of all and my fellow twin brother “Kogulakannan Rama Linggam”. We all grew up and spent the most of our lives with each other. I think I’ve always known that I was a little different being the only girl from my  brothers, but it's okay because we are all different in many ways but we all manage to live together in harmony supporting each other throughout.

My achievements

Besides my education, career and now winning the titles I am getting my self-engaged with some NGOs to assist the needy and I am planning the roadmaps to my charitable journey. However, I vowed to myself that this will not be for fame but for a genuine purpose.

Why women Empowerment Important to me?

Women Empowerment to me is giving due respect, honor, recognition, and love towards all women regardless of age, religion or social status.

I would like to empower all women to always have a dream, set their goals and strive hard to achieve it. I strongly believe that only a woman can empower another.

My Pageantry Journey

My notable gratitude to Lumiere International Pageantry as it was my 1st pageantry attempt in my whole life no doubt, I had this desire and passion in pageantry ever since my childhood. Nevertheless, it did not materialize due to various circumstances. However, when this opportunity came by in year 2019, as a mother of two (2) I felt I need to do something for myself not merely for the fame but to venture into the journey which I always wanted to as well as to break the barrier that a married women and a mother will not be able to succeed in pageantry platform /world as its only for the youths and young ones. I always believe that marriage and family should not stop one from achieving their dreams and goals thus my journey began.

With the guidance of my queen sisters namely Mrs. Premi, Mrs. Khomala and Mahi and my Pageant  National Director Mrs. Justina Quek I bagged the main title of Mrs Asia Global Universe 2019/2020, Diamond Queen Award and four (4) subsidiary titles  from my 1st ever pageantry journey as listed herewith.

1)Title winner - Mrs Asia Global Universe 2019/20

2) Mrs Queen of Substance

3) Mrs Lady of Empowerment

4) Diamond Queen Award

5) Charity Queen

6) Mrs Social Media influencer

7)Mrs Elegance Global Universe 2020

8) Best Introductory Award for Mrs Global Universe 2020

I would take this opportunity to thank my family, friend, pageantry sisters, my National Director Mrs. Justina Quek for the supporting, guiding, and moulding me towards this wonderful journey of mine

What inspired me to be in this Journey?

I wanted to set myself as a role model for all married women out there that marriage, career, children, and age cannot be boundaries for one to achieve their dreams and goals. I strongly believe that we are capable of multitasking and achieving greater heights in life. I would say that my motivation and passion inspired me to be here today. I was determined to achieve what I have achieved by sheer determination, passion, and my hard work. Once again, it’s a statement that I wanted to prove to the world that "if one puts their heart and soul into anything they do, victory is definite".

What is this journey all about?

This platform basically required me to do many tasks in line to the finale. All those tasks given are very much related and prepared me as a Contestant for the grand finals. The ones who are determined and passionate in this platform will strive to excel... So, I would strongly advise one to put in your most to achieve it if you are passionate about this platform.

What was I being judged on during the competition?

I was basically judged on catwalk, determination, creativity, punctuality, responsibility, accountability, team spirit, confidence and the question and answering (Q & A) session. I believe I was judged on my individuality and not impersonating.

My experience during the competition

I had a very good time, experience, and exposure by venturing into this journey. Since this was my first pageantry experience in 2019 followed by the International platform Mrs. Global Universe 2020 was held in Singapore in which I represented Asia. I took every assignment given in a very positive manner and I strive my best to complete all tasks given successfully. Throughout my journey I meet many contestants from all over the world with various characteristics, backgrounds, and culture. Having said that, we had a great journey together and the journey continues post pageant. I value friendship, relationship and bonding and this journey of mine brought many people across my path which I would really treasure.

What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

“The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description” With that tag line in mind, I believe all the competitors were beautiful, confident and knowledgeable in their own way but what makes me stand out I think my confidence level and my passion towards this journey outshine and reflected through my stage performance on the day.

The moment I was called out as the winner.

I was excited, speechless, and thankful as my passion, determination and hard work paid off. I felt a sense of accomplishment and I did justice to the sacrifice my husband and kids did throughout my journey of this pageantry.  Winning this title is a dream come true for me which I would treasure forever.

Pageant and my Life

I took more initiative to groom myself, put some importance to myself as we as mothers sometime will not be too cautious of our wellbeing as compared to the family, so self-grooming it is. I also had more recognition in my career, women out there started to look up upon me and my achievements as an individual, as a mother.

How did pageants help my self-esteem and body image?

I feel very confident of myself and yes, I took initiative on my body image and I am now who I am because of the journey I ventured into.

Me being a role model & Inspiration

This is the goal and yes, I feel too good about it as I am empowering women to take me as their role model to their individual achievements in life. It need not be in pageantry; it is just the passion and burning goals in them to strive for excellence.

My on-stage strategy to win the judges over and preparation for this journey

Make a difference in the way I walk, perform, the way I portray myself and the dresses I pick. Of all, I put in a lot of effort to prepare myself well for the self-introduction and Q&A.  I practice Catwalk 30 minutes a day, watching other pageant on YouTube and etc

Social activities post pageantry

With this platform I started helping the indigenous people of Malaysia who are in poverty by buying them provisions and clothes as well as toys, and helped many during the crisis of this Covid -19 pandemic. I am also on my road to helping the needy with their needs on a case to case basis. I do a lot of engagement activities i.e. mentoring and emotional support kind of activities throughout this pandemic.

The legacy I want to leave behind

Women who empower other women, encourage other women to step up, be a cheerleader and tell my story to empower one to achieve their goals regardless of the platform.

The moment I received the letter for being selected for Women Icon Awards 2021

I am honestly flattered.  Thank you very much for selecting me for this prestigious International Award.
