Overview
Nishtee Gopee – Programme Leader IT and Emerging Technologies
Before being posted at Polytechnics Mauritius in 2018, where I am
currently the Programme Leader of IT and Emerging Technologies, I serviced at
the National Computer Board(NCB) where I played a key role as the officer-in-charge for the ICT Academy and was also involved in
the department for strategic planning and implementation of ICT culture in
Mauritius, The National Computer Board is a government institution under the
aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation.
Prior to joining NCB, I worked as a Software
Engineer at Ceridian Mauritius, a global IT company.
Previous to my work at Ceridian, I worked as an educator for nearly 8
years in different educational institutions in Mauritius. My passion for the
education field has always been there since I started my career. Being with
students and shaping their educational career and transforming their life, is
in itself a holistic endeavour which I hold very truly to. Avid about
academic research, I
am constantly involved in writing research papers with focus areas on Educational
Technologies and Emerging Technologies such as AI, Big Data Analytics and
Blockchain.
I
was also lately part of the panel member speaker for the Conference of Les
Assises de l’innovation et de la recherches, Rogers Capital Digital Innovation
Event in collaboration with The Mauritius Institute of Directors, was also in
the panel for Project Innovation at the Mauritius Research council. I am constantly updating myself and have
recently completed the certificate in Disrupting the Financial Landscape by
Cambridge Business School and recently awarded the Certificate in Higher
Education by Harvard Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning.
Holder of a BSC in
Computer science from Bangalore university, MSC in Information Systems from
university of Wales and an MBA from Open University of Mauritius with distinction and with over 18 years of experience in IT and Educational sector, I currently lead the Department of IT
and Emerging Technologies at Polytechnics Mauritius. My role at the senior
management level academic is more focus on strategic planning and management,
fostering the development of student lifelong learning and holistic approach to
education in the IT sector looking at new ventures and bringing forth new
programmes for the department.
My
drive and enthusiasm for learning constantly and being engaged in the education
of the young minds will still remain an important element.
