Overview

I have no inspirational story to be told, I believe, I only have stories of struggling, the tales of surviving and the chapters of overcoming.

I am BEENU GEORGE, from Adimaly by birth, a small town in Idukki, Kerala. Born in an ordinary middle class family. I could complete my education till graduation there. After my graduation, I met with an accident and was completely paralized for more than a year.

Every rise after a fall is a wonder, I could be back to my life after the hardships of a year and  a half. There begun the next phase of my life.

Started working here and there survive. Focused on making a fine career in accounts. In 2010 I got married and shifted to Ernakulam.

Time keeps surprising the lives. My life but was going through a parallel line as every middle class women. Pregnancy, delivery and job with family responsibilities were drowning but moulding me. The pressure made me resign the job. I went abroad with husband. Starting working in a supermarket.

Time makes wounds too. I lost my father in 2013 and the memories of the bond made me broke. I was too fragile to meet his face covered with white cloth. I resisted coming home but I know, deep inside, I wad down.... I was accepting that a lose which cannot be substituted had occurred.

Time rolled, wounds burnt but the scars left. I was ready to be the mother of my second child and came back home for the after proceedings. Everything was going well till My husband and I had shown some struggles to move together which ended up in a mutual divorce for we accepted that if we had been together anymore, it may even worse our bond.

A woman of 35, with two tiny kids in hand, penniless had started dreaming of a career and living to make her strong enough to not beg for needs. The thoughtful days and clueless nights rolled and rolled. The responsibilities which couldn’t be avoided made many sleepless nights. I was standing in front of the life but not perplexed. The next phase of the life started there.

The wounds which are made by time are cured by time itself. At the time of being helpless, the light came in the form of friends. Kochi metro was calling for tenders under metro stations. After struggles, hardships, debts and loans, I tendered an area under Kaloor JLN stadium Metro Station and planted my dreams and hopes there in the form of a food stop over.

Lights on,

I named it Papa’s, my hope.

Every time, changes need a manual push behind.

I started, made promise, had an oath to provide good food and beverages from my side. Instruction were adamant but I made sure that a customer comes should not go back with a blue face. Every time, I made myself busy with my food experiments. At the same time, I was being a victim of experiments too. Shop was in a land where many others have an eye on. The tries for closing, seizing and grabbing acted well in the background but I was not set to give up in front of any. Tries are still on and my counters and surviving too. All I know was that I have to go a lot more.

In between this journey of two years, I could make a turn over of 1.7cr and I’m delighted to share that I was honoured with the best entrepreneur award from Canara Bank in 2023. With a shop contains six staffs and 24 hours working format, I found a new schedule to make a food production unit to provide homely bakeries and meals to every one in a budget and in this go I now dream and work to make branches to this plant.

Struggles are not yet over and it’s not going to be,

I said, I repeat

I have no inspirational story to be told, I believe, I only have stories of struggling, the tales of surviving and the chapters of overcoming.
