W.M.Dharshika Tharangani Weerakoon has won Excellent Woman Achiever Award

My name is Dharshika Weerakoon and I live in kadawatha -Sri Lanka.I am 32 years old. I am the founder and director in Lush Cakes Pvt Ltd.I have studied media and tv presenting,german language and many courses to get knowledge for my life.also as higher educations,I have completed diploma in mass communcation in university of Kelaniya, diploma in psychlogy and councelling and currently studying Psychology degree in IMBS Campus.as consider about the work experience I have worked as Customer care execuetives at Mc Donalds in srilanka,also worked as a news reader and as an assistsant producer.

lastly I worked as customer care officer in privet sector during the cake business. As conider what are the qualifications that I had related to the cake industry, I have completed diploma in cake baking and decorating,compeleted gum paste flower course,completed online cake course and finally completed Pastry and Bakery Certificate Level Course in Sri Lanka Hotel School.

During the corona pandemic time period In 2020, there was country locked down and blocked the all country imigration. Then we have to stuck in the house.then all people had to get all stuff to the home by only delivery services. We were not allowed to go anywhere without special permission.so we were borin to stay at home.how ever on that period cake and food got little bit viral in social media. So me and my friend decided to do any cake course as a hobby.

luckily country opened for few time period. Then there was a cake couse for 8 days in facebook.then we joined for that.before that my mother had told me to do any cake course for the extra abilties.but I didn’t like it. But it happened. After completed the cake course I just wanted to find my cake class fees only.so I decided to do cakes orders. But unfortunately I didn’t receive any cake orders until 03 months after the class end. So I was very upset.

Then suddenly came a new cake order. I was very happy. At least I didn’t get any advance too. Then after brought cake ingredients, again locked down the country. I was again felt down. But I just forget it. On that time period after few days I received a new order. But I delivered it with many difficulties. I had to pay too much taxi fee than the location. There was no profit.

But in December, my brother’s birthday.so he told me to make his birthday cake and cake pieces for his office staff. But he told me to give ingredients and also he told me a prediction. He told me when I make his cakes order well and delicious, I will receive more orders further.as he told, after his cake order I had very good feedback and his office staff started to order their cakes from me.after that my authentic delicious cakes got viral. But my parents also blame me do any jobs. Then I had to go for an interview. But I thought I will not select for the job.beacause my mind worked for the business. But as I never thought that I selected.

Then I had to face another challenge. I had to work and had to do the cakes together. Then I had to make the cake order after the office time period. Then sometimes I couldn’t sleep at least one hour. But I have never miss my duty and responsibilities in office. I had to do both until three years with lot of challenges. Finally I resigned from the job and now doing my homemade cake business full time as a business.
