Aloka Peramuna has bagged Outstanding Women Performer Award

I’m Aloka Peramuna born on a beautiful island called Sri Lanka. I did my GCE A/L in Commerce stream at Mahamaya Girls College Kandy. Soon after completing my A/L, I was able to start to build my Career with continuous improvement and adding value to myself in each step I took. I graduated from the University of Bedfordshire UK with an MBA in 2020 and in the meantime further qualified with a Distinction Award for Diploma in International Business Management issued by Scottish Qualification Authority. I’m an affiliated student at Chartered Marketing Institute and following CIM Level 7.

I started my career as a Sales Development Associate at NDB Bank and over the period I was able to learn and develop myself in Sales, Marketing and most of all, building networks and work in a target driven culture. Meanwhile I started a diploma in French Language at Alliance Francaise De Kandy to enhance my Language skill and was able to get through DELF exams conducted by the French government.

As the second work place It was a pleasure to work at HSBC Bank attached to Credit Card Operations where I was able to gain knowledge in back-office functions, team work, efficiency improvement and world class customer service. Since I pushed myself to work hard to enhance my capacity of working, I was able to work under pressure although my workload exceeded the average volume. As a recognition of my tremendous work, HSBC issued me a Bronze Star award certificate. I joined AIA Insurance Lanka in 2012 as a Junior Executive and It led me to a strong career in the Insurance Industry. I got promoted as an Executive within a short period of time with many recognitions. Lot of hard work led me to reach up the ladder and I allocated myself fully into gaining experience throughout the period at AIA Insurance.

I Joined Union Assurance PLC as Contact Center Supervisor in 2018. I did not limit myself only for the given job responsibilities hence envisioned beyond my usual capacity and I was able to extend my fullest to revamp the Union Assurance Call Center. As a competent, Independent, Innovative and Analytically driven individual, I was able to streamline the Call Center structure, processes and service standards in an excellent manner within a limited time frame work which got recognized in Union Assurance Annual Awards in 2018 as CEO Award winner for the exceptional performance displayed in the very first year of working at the company. My passion in solving problems and delivering results was recognized further. Also, for the exceptional performance projected as a Team, I was Awarded CEO Team Award in 2020. I got promoted as Assistant Manager for Union Assurance Contact Center in 2020.

I’m a strong individual who always believes in work life balance. Hence, I have committed myself to read books and study global trends and enjoy the time. Robin Sharma, Tonney Robins and Simon Sinek are the mentors that I follow and reading books has supported me to enhance my critical thinking and inspiration. I’m not a lady who waits for motivation but drives myself to become a champion all the time. Regular exercises, time management, a healthy and happy lifestyle made me an example for others. I’m a sponsor for Children in Need which has inspired me to become stronger as a woman who can serve the community in a positive way.

Positive thinking, Ability in building networks, improving working capacity and efficiency, Critical thinking, Analytical skill, event organizing, team work, leadership skill, motivation, innovative thinking, fast learning ability and driving myself for a specific target are some of the characteristics which supported me to enhance my progress. 

I’m very delighted and honored to declare that my profile got selected for the ‘Outstanding Women Performer Award” under the category of “Women Achievers Award”, which I believe is a hidden blessing to uplift my life goals. We as women should encourage and provide our fullest support for these types of events and I have no words to express how motivated and inspired I am to be an Award Winner under Women Icon Powered by Times Women.
