Suhana Mohamed has bagged Distinguished Academician Award

I am Suhana Mohamed, currently a Senior Lecturer of Finance at the Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Johor Branch, Pasir Gudang Campus, or UiTM Pasir Gudang. 

A fantastic honour, bestowed for the Distinguished Academician Award of the Year by Women Icon powered by Times Women, is an excellent demonstration of one's skills and accomplishments recognized globally. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Women Icon for this recognition.

Suhana Mohamed has over a decade of experience in the field of Finance. With a total of twenty-two (22) years of academic and industrial experience, she began her academic career in September 2009. Before being appointed to her academic position, she gained ten (10) years of experience with esteemed Malaysian financial institutions.

Her undergraduate education began with a Diploma in Statistics in 1994, followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honors) Finance in 1998, and she graduated in 1996 and 2000, respectively. She enrolled in the Master of Business Administration programme in 2006 and graduated with her Master's degree in 2008. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). 

She has taught various subjects at the undergraduate level.  The subjects include Portfolio Management and Applications, Issues and Ethics in Finance, Risk Management, Investment Analysis, International Financial Management, Financial Market and Banking Services, International Business, Legal Aspect of Banking, Investment Management, Finance of International Trade, Financial Analysis, Fundamentals of Insurance, Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, Banking Operations, Fundamentals of Marketing, Fundamentals of Finance, Risk and Insurance, Fundamentals of Transport and Study Skills. 

Suhana has been actively involved in Investment research, mainly in Real Estate Finance, where she concentrated on Real Estate Investment Research.  She has presented research papers at both local and international conferences.  To name a few, the International Conference on Economics and Finance Research (Singapore), the ASEAN Conference on Environment-Behaviour Studies (Bangkok, Thailand) and the Advances in Social Sciences Research International Conference (Bandung, Indonesia). 

Suhana has 118 research and general papers published as books, chapters in books, conference proceedings, journals, magazines, newsletters and newspaper articles. Currently, she has published 33 journal articles in local and international journals. Besides, she has published seven books.  

As an active researcher in the faculty, her research grants awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, industry grant and UiTM (internal research grants), such as Accounting Research Institute Research Grant Scheme (ARI GS), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Research Acculturation Grant Scheme (RAGS), Case Study Writing Grant Scheme (CWGS), Johor Innovation Valley Grant Scheme (JIVE) and Public-Private Research Network Grant Scheme (PPRN). 

As of October 2021, her H-index score is six (6), and the i-10 index score is three (3) based on Google Scholar citation, the H-index score is two (2) based on Scopus citation, and H-index score is two (2) based on WOS citation. 

She actively participated in public services related to the academic world. She was appointed as a paper reviewer for many refereed journals and international conferences and has contributed as editor in chief, journal editorial board member and the technical committee in more than 20 conferences and journals. 

Besides being very active in research activities, Suhana also contributed to human capital development in supervising and training students at various levels. She has supervised undergraduate students for various academic and community projects. She was also invited to share her knowledge and expertise in various talks for students and academicians. The topics covered were finance-related, entrepreneurship, general publications, innovations, motivations, grooming, and the university's module.

Her networking extended to other international and local higher education institutions. She has been appointed as a fellow and visiting scholar of the Akademi Komunitas Penabulu Samudera Wiyata Indonesia; as Deputy Chair of the Advisory Board for Kolej Komuniti Pasir Gudang, and as an External Reviewer for Politeknik MeTRO Johor Bahru. 

Throughout the years, she has given back to society by sharing her knowledge and experience. She has been invited to many talk shows on television and radio since 2018, such as RTM, JohorFM, and Astro Awani. Several publications have also published articles about Suhana's work, including Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, Dewan Masyarakat, and Dewan Kosmik.

Recognizing her outstanding contributions in research and community services, Suhana received several prestigious awards, including Best Paper Presenter Award from the conference; 1 Special Award, 1 Diamond, 10 Gold, 10 Silver, 10 Bronze medals from various research innovation competitions and exhibitions. The international award that she received was Special Award from World Invention Contest, Seoul, South Korea in June 2019, Diamond Award from UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia in September 2018 for an International innovation Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition 2018 (iiDEX 2018).  The national award bestowed to her was Anugerah Penyelia Harapan from Johor State Government, Malaysia, in February 2018, to supervise, mentor, and coach the students for Duta Jauhar 4.0 Social Entrepreneurship Competition 2017 (DJ 4.0).  

Suhana dedicated her passion to knowledge transfer, human capital development, training young minds and supporting many exciting projects for UiTM, Johor Darul Takzim, Malaysia and international collaboration.
