Overview

Biography: 

I am deeply grateful to the recognition for myself. I especially want to thank the Women Icons who have been empowered by time, to take this opportunity to recognize me globally for the great achievements of the Times Women and the World Women's Council for this great initiative.

Academic Profile: 

I studied at Mahamaya Girls’ School, Matara, Sri Lanka. After that I entered the University of Ruhuna Sri Lanka. I came to the University for my undergraduate studies in Sociology, particularly studying the socialization between human wellbeing and sociocultural dimensions, criminology and psychology at the University of Ruhuna. I clearly understand human behavior through ethological aspects. I contributed broadly to research on how interrelations between Sinhala and Tamil people can be improved, social development, social policies and a comparison between Suduwathuraara in early period and present day situation communities of Sri Lanka in Undergraduate level. My final year dissertation was on White Collar Crimes Rate and its impact in the Contemporary Sri Lankan Society.

I successfully completed my bachelor’s degree at the University of Ruhuna with a Sociology Special Degree (2016). I was a member of University of Ruhuna Gavel Club and University of Ruhuna Career Guidance. I am currently studying Masters of Arts in Peace and Development Studies at University of Ruhuna and Tribhuvan University of Nepal. My Master’s Degree thesis is Domestic Implementation of International Human Rights Law: Sri Lankan Perspective. I was awarded a NORHEAD project Scholarship by the Strengthening Research, Education and Advocacy in Conflict, Peace and Development Studies Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan in 2019 and participated as a researcher of Tribhuvan University of Nepal. I presented an abstract paper at the University of Ruhuna International Conference ICPRD, RUICESS, ICME and Ruhuna Art Student Annual session. My abstract research themes are,

Psychosocial, behavioral and inherent risk factors affecting cardiovascular diseases.

Psychological factors affecting in stress : A study based on the mental hospital in Unawatuna Sri Lanka.

Factors influencing consumer choice hotel selection in Colombo Sri Lanka.

White collar crimes rate in the contemporary Sri Lankan Southern Society : A sociological study conducted in Matara divisional secretariat area.

Environmental and behavioral risk factors affecting in cancer ; A study conducted at the cancer hospital in Maharagama Sri Lanka.

Negative socio – cultural impacts of tourism: A sociological study conducted in Mirissa Sri Lanka.

Additionally I have multi skill professionals with good all round advisory skills, able to conduct research in a comprehensive manner.  During My University Period I joined the Matara District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sri Lanka as a Project Coordinator. I was supportive of such activities and attended the Conference and awareness meeting of World University in Canada. I was a member of University of ruhuna LEO Club District 306 A1 in Sri Lanka. I have been serving as International Relationship Coordinator Since 2018 University of Ruhuna LEO Club. I obtained a Diploma in Microsoft Office Professional Information Technology in Dakuna Educational Centre from 2010 – 2011. Furthermore I studied Human Resource Managements in IPM Sri Lanka. Under these circumstances, I’m interested in developing innovative methods for harmonizing leadership activities with the conservation of team spiritual activities. 

Career Life:

Before entering my career life I was appointed as a District Coordinator of the Sri Lanka United Nations Friendship Organization (SUNFO) from 2017- 2019. This organization is working for peace, harmony and the well-being of mankind according to the principles of the United Nations. I participated in SUNFO programs, activities, mobilization, awareness and campaigns.  These activities involved in Sustainable Development Goal post 2015 consultations, peace and reconciliation programs while my activities have a particular focus on the sustainable society, economic and political in the digital world.  

I was appointed a Department of Agriculture of the Ministry Complex southern province in Sri Lanka in 2019 and having previously served as  a graduate trainee and I also held the position of  Development Officer in Chief Secretary’s Office Southern Province Sri Lanka.

I am equipped with a comprehensive mix of knowledge, skills and competencies at the cutting edge of current best practices in those areas. I have opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills and competencies. Further, I’m able to develop my interpersonal, communication, and team building potential through the extracurricular activities of my academics.

Finally one again I owe these deepest and special thanks to Times Women’s and World Women Council valuable guidance and they gave me to reflect on this achievement. Secondly, I want to deeply thank the University of Ruhuna Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Faculty dean and other lecturers for their encouragement and support to apply for this award. My final and most important thanks go to my family and especially to my Mother and father they always encourage my achievements.
