Overview

I am a Lecturer at the Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Further, I am a PhD scholar at the UOW School of Business, University of Wollongong, Australia under the supervision of Professor Mario Fernando who is an expert in ethical decision making. My doctoral research is mainly focused on ethical decision making in sustainability among senior executives in the Sri Lankan hotel industry. Participating in high quality conferences based on my studies proves international standards of my research. Recently, I was awarded “Prize for outstanding student paper and presentation- Management” award by the higher degree student conference held on 5th November 2021 by Faculty of Business and Law, University of Wollongong. Apart from this conference, I presented my research findings at the British Academy of Management Doctoral Symposium and Australian New Zealand Academy of Management. 

I have always performed well in my academic activities. I was selected to University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka for a B.Com degree program in 2007 after completing the national level university entrance examination in Sri Lanka with brilliant results. Considering the top results of the University entrance exam, I was awarded a scholarship from the Peoples’ Bank Officers’ Association, Sri Lanka. During my four year stay in the university, I engaged in many extra-curricular activities. I was a semifinalist at Inter University best speaker contest organized by Gavel Club, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2011. Further I was the club service director at Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2009. I volunteered as an organizing committee member in the Annual Management Day of the Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya in 2009. I was a member of the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya for the period of 2007 to 2010 and a committee member at the Management Society at Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya in 2008. Moreover, I was a contestant in CIMA Global Challenge 2011 competition and volunteered as a demonstrator in the Investor day organized by Colombo Stock Exchange, Kandy Branch. In 2011, I was awarded a Global Management Internship by AIESEC Bangalore, India. After that I worked as a Business Development Intern at RAHI, Bangalore, India. After my four year study period at University of Peradeniya, I was awarded the Kundanmals Prize for Commerce for the best performance in my degree program at the General Convocation 2012.

Soon after my graduation, I was appointed as a Lecturer on contract basis in the Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. During my tenure as a Lecturer, I worked as a voluntary student counselor, member in the internship committee, supporting member to the faculty research coordinator and supporting member to the department career guidance coordinator. Further, I contributed to research and academic activities in my position as a Lecturer.

In 2015, I was recruited as a permanent Lecturer to the Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Management, University of Peradeniya. I held various appointments in the department and faculty level apart from my research and teaching activities. I was the program coordinator for B.Com Exposure program, Department dissertation coordinator, Department internship coordinator and Member at the food committee for IPURSE conference. Further I was the academic sub warden at Ramanathan Girls’ hostel from 2015 to 2017.

In January 2019, I was offered the opportunity to directly enter the doctoral program at University of Wollongong, Australia based on my academic performance. I was awarded the International Postgraduate Tuition Fee Award by University of Wollongong and Living Expense grant by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sri Lanka. I am a member of the British academy of Management and Australian New Zealand Academy of Management. Further I am a HDR student member at Center for Cross Cultural Management at University of Wollongong, Australia. I have published in peer reviewed Journals and these days I am writing a paper for the International Journal of Hospitality Management. 

I am grateful to the Women Icon international Organization powered by Times Women for awarding me the Women Super Achiever award and I am thrilled with this achievement.
