Overview

Aham Brahmasmi, yat bhavam tat bhavathi

I am fire, I am power, I am passion and I am what I believe I am.

Surrounded by the high walls of the Himalayas, lush green hills, and golden plains. A land of snow peaks and steamy jungles; rivers and lakes. Home to the living god and goddess. A country of temples and monasteries where lies Lord Pashupatinath and Lord Buddha. A secular, multicultural, multilingual and multi religious nation that believes in unity in diversity. An unexplored treasure with a land of age-old history and traditions spanning thousands of years. Nepal.

I was born and brought up in the historic city of Kathmandu. I grew up in a close-knit family listening to the hardships of my mother and grandparents. As an only kid who challenged the patriarchal society, I was treated like a princess with duties befitting a monarch; I strived to become someone my family would be proud of from a very young age.

Since I can remember, my hajurbuwa (grandfather) has been teaching me about values, ethics, and morals. Being a devout philanthropist himself, he instilled in me the virtues of self-belief, fulfilling my human obligations, treating everyone with utmost respect, and giving back to society from an early age.

My mother has always been my power source, providing unwavering love, compassion, and support with every stride I take and every ascent I make. They have always taught me that with enthusiasm to learn and improve, hard effort and drive, there is nothing I couldn’t accomplish. As a result, I matured into a strong-willed, independent woman with ambitions higher than the Himalayas I represent.

I did my schooling from one of the most prestigious schools in Nepal, Budhanilkantha which served as a springboard for my leadership journey. As a member of clubs like the Junior Red Cross, Leo, Society for Open Nepal (SFON) and Forum of Cultural Unity on Stage (FOCUS), I began overseeing numerous social events and other programs while studying there.

As I continued, I enrolled in Apex College affiliated to Pokhara University for my undergraduate degree, where I began honing my management, leadership, and people skills. I developed my leadership skills from guiding my class as a whole on many occasions and juniors in various programs. Additionally, I was able to secure an internship with Nepal Rastra Bank, the central Bank of Nepal. Building further, for my master’s degree, I joined Phoenix College affiliated to Lincoln University where I am getting opportunities to work with large pool of networks and group of entrepreneurs in various projects. By working on these projects and receiving other specific trainings, I was able to learn about corporate culture, professionalism, and business etiquette.

In terms of my work, I began at the bottom of the pyramid. From a front desk officer at a tiny company slowly moving to operations manager at an international distribution channel. I started moving up the growth ladder. My initial growth can be attributed to Asia Pacific School and College, where I oversaw the team's operations and handled the school's marketing, administration, and finances as a whole. Moving forward, with the zeal to learn and advance my career, I came across MG Group.

The company is a conglomeration of diverse enterprises that offers variety of goods and services including education, services, media, entertainment, and retail establishments. We currently have 17 companies, initiatives, and franchises under our umbrella. I started out as the Chief Marketing Manager and worked my way up to other positions. I gradually began to handle the company's operations and administration, and soon I was also appointed as Chief Administrative officer. I added HR head to my responsibilities as CAO after completing extensive formal training from well-known HR professionals in Nepal.

I attribute my success to the MG Group's chairman and managing director, Mr. Sudip Chandra Bakhrel, and vice chairman and CEO, Mr. Suraj Khanal, along with my entire team and coworkers, for believing in me, and giving me several opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. I'm here today because of the bond we have, the homely environment we've established, and the teamwork we have built.

I’d like to dedicate this award to my mother Nilu K.C, who has always been a pillar of strength in my life; my aunt Dipa K.C, who has mentored me and instilled in me the value of education; my grandfather Indu K.C, my role model; and my late grandmother Manuka K.C, who will always be my greatest inspiration. I am also grateful to all of my mentors, Dr. Jayandra Shrestha, Mr. Sudip Chandra Bakhrel, and Mr. Suraj Khanal, for their direction, motivation, and push.

I am honored to receive the ‘Young lifetime achievement award’ in the category of Women achievers award. It is a significant milestone in my life and carries great values. In addition to that, the recognition also serves as a motivation for me to progress further and grow more .I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the entire team of Women Icon, powered by Times Women and World Women Council. Thank you for providing this platform and empowering women around the globe which embodies the true meaning of women empowerment.
