Overview

First and foremost, I am blessed and honoured to receive the award “Outstanding  Young Women Achiever Award” under the category of Women’s Individual Leadership/  Achievement Award by Women Icon. It really brings more willingness and self-belief in  whatever I endeavour. It also gives me the inspiration to improve myself. I will definitely push  myself to be the better version of myself and to inspire others. I ensure that this award would  be my stepping stone towards reaching my future goals. Even though it is impossible for me to  show my thankfulness in words, I would like to express my gratitude to my parents Mr & Mrs  Segar Logaswari who are the reason for me being here today and my guru, Ms Nalini Rathakris  who has guided me along the way.

As a student approaching adulthood, it is time for me to start my career life, particularly  in the field pertaining to personal financial planning. After exploring my skills, abilities and  qualities, my interest best fits in becoming a financial advisor. This profession caught my  attention because I have always been interested in finance and the economy of the community.  Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelors in Business majoring in Financial Risk Management  & Banking and Finance at Sunway University cum Victoria University, Melbourne. What  attracted me to this degree is the chance to acquire knowledge on finance, investment practices  and risk management tools to apply to a profession in fund management.

Back in the year of 2008, the greed of huge monetary organizations considered 'too big  to fail' and lapse on the part of rating agencies led to one of the worst financial depressions in  history. The absence of discipline and responsibility of those financial intermediaries affected  many individuals, eroding their life savings and constraining them into insolvency. This  incident has had its influence on me and it is my earnest wish for a healthier economy and  reducing the potential for another downfall, particularly in Malaysia.

My career aspiration is to utilize my professional skills pertaining to financial risk  management and banking to accomplish more success in my working life. I am also seeking a job that creates opportunities for me to learn, collaborate and move forward. Talent is  significant, but hard work is very crucial for all the accomplishments and it holds the highest  value. Albert Einstein once said, "Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work". Thus, I intend to  give my best in whatever I undertake. My personal time is mostly invested as an Indian classical dancer (Bharatanatyam  dancer) since I was 5. It has been a great 16 years of experience being in this cultural and divine  art in Sri Rathakrishanan Music and Arts Centre under the tutelage of Guru Nalini Rathakris. I  look forward to having a balanced life as I perceive my non-working time to be equally spent  for myself, my family, religion and hobby. My passion lies in Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical  Dance) as it fascinates me in the way we can move without talking with simply the emotions  on one’s face and the movement made to show such feelings.

Bharatanatyam is my most prominent form of dance as I feel that this is my strongest  dance style. It is very expressive, elegant and inspirational. I always go for my lessons with  full enthusiasm and look forward to my next class. This shows my commitment to attend  these classes. Every class has not just improved my body posture, stamina, stiffness and  gracefulness, but it has also played a very crucial role in my daily lives. It has implanted  discipline, instilled and emphasized on good qualities and attributes, developing leadership,  communication and organisational skills. Such classes give me a lot of satisfaction and towards  the finishing of each class feels like I have accomplished something.

I am an ambitious and driven person because I always challenge myself to constantly  strive forward. I look forward to new challenges and I keep looking for opportunities to do  better, gain experience and to achieve greatness. Having said that, being a student and a trainer  of Sri Rathakrishanan Music & Arts Centre has allowed me to realise my greatest potential by  participating in various events and programs locally and abroad. For example, Paatrasya Prana  Dance Worksop (India), Manasarovar Dakshayani (dance production), A Tribute to Thanjavur  Quartet (dance show), Chinnamelam Festival (India) and many more. I have won  championships in several local and international dance competitions. I received a few awards  in recognition of my efforts like An Earnest Student Award (2007), Inspiring Junior Award  (2007), Award of Excellence (2018), Most Active Student Award ( 2019) and Best Coaching  Award ( 2021). Furthermore, I have also worked part-time as a Warehouse Associate in  Fashion Valet Warehouse, Data Entry Clerk in SC Wintech Solutions and Accounts Clerk in  Guardian Resources (M) Sdn Bhd. Through all my experiences, I was able to further enhance  my skills such as teamwork, communication, presentation, planning, organising, managing and  many more.

I realised that I have good leadership skills even during school as I was given the role  as a Commander and Vice President of School Cadet, and School Prefect from the year 2009  until 2017. I have also been in the organising committee of Sri Rathakrishanan Music and Arts  Centre for numerous successful events like Suaranatya, Breaking Records & Barriers  (Malaysia Book of Records & Asia Book of Records) where I took up the position as the Head  of Food and Beverage Department. As a trainer, I have not only improved and discovered my  potential, but I have also instilled and instigated talent in others. I have trained and motivated  the upcoming dancers to reach their greatest potential. All of these have taught me to be open minded, self-disciplined, patient, increase my self-esteem and self-motivation, manage my  emotions and others.

I have always believed that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by  what we give. All of us are living on the Earth that is a habitat for humanity, and we were  placed here for a reason. If we are living together, we have the responsibility for each other.  Having witnessed the adversity that a wide scope of different social drawbacks can present, I  have gotten ardent about working hard and acquiring the abilities, knowledge and experience  to assist individuals overcome them through effective community social service. I strongly feel  that my generation has the ability and responsibility to make our ever-more connected world a  more hopeful, stable and peaceful place.

That being said, I'm not just a trainer in a dance academy, I'm also an active member of  Pertubuhan Kesenian dan Kebudayaan SRFA which is a registered non-profit organisation. By  holding the former Treasurer position of this organization for the year 2020, I have gained  many beneficial experiences. I have also had the opportunity to be in the organising committee  of Kempen Hari Merdeka 2020 (National Day Campaign) where goodie bags and free food  were given to the frontlines who were working hard during the Covid-19 pandemic and the  Voice of Earth Campaign which was held earlier this year to emphasize environmental  awareness.

As a finance student and someone who is passionate about dance and community social  service, I get to take many small steps in becoming a successful human being, contributing  meaning, beauty, possibility, inspiration, hope, skill and stewardship in the world. With this  balance, I will be able to dance the dance of my life, for a lifetime.
